Do you find yourself rushing through life trying to figure out how to be that girl—the one who’s effortlessly smashing her goals and living her best life—only to feel like you’re barely keeping up?
Inside, it can sometimes feel like you’re in a race against time, constantly chasing the next big thing without fully appreciating how far you’ve come. With work, family, love life, friends and everything else, it’s hard to see your progress in the moment.
And before we begin to F(uKc up the algorithm with all the new year resolutions for 2025, let’s stop and focus. Everything is happening right now- so do what you have to do today.
I recently had an old friend reach out, telling me she’d been following my journey and was so proud of all I’d accomplished. Her words? “Girl, you are doing it!” My response? “Well, what exactly am I doing?”
That conversation reminded me—and now you—that sometimes we need to pause, look back, and realize just how much we’ve grown. And how we’re actually living the life we prayed for and worked towards years ago.
In this post, we’ll dive into how to become that girl. I’m giving you 10 effective ways you can level up before the new year by incorporating these habits into your daily life. You’ll create a lifestyle where growth isn’t just a goal—it’s a given. Let’s make sure your glow-up is a never-ending story.
I recently dropped a post called ‘The High Value Woman Playbook‘, and while there are some parallels, being ‘That Girl’ is like the opening act before you hit the main stage as a High-Value woman.

1. Pray for discernment
In a world full of noise and irrelevant opinions, having the ability to make wise decisions is crucial. Praying for discernment can help you cut through the bs and focus on what truly matters. Discover how a bit of spiritual clarity can lead you to more purposeful choices and a more fulfilling life.
This tops my list because it’s the muscle I’ve been working the most lately. Growing into adulthood means you start questioning a lot of things. It’s crucial to ask the right questions to the right people, and equally important to discern what to hold onto and what to discard.
Knowing who to trust and who to steer clear of becomes a vital skill.
2. Be financially aware
Money makes the world go round, but sis, it doesn’t have to spin out of control. Being financially aware means understanding your income, expenses, and financial goals. Learn how to take charge of your finances and make informed decisions that pave the way for long-term success. I’ve made some really big strides in this area and I would urge every woman to really take control of their finances even if it takes a while, just start and take strides to better your financial health.
Here are a few finance and career girlies on IG that I would encourage you to follow to help keep you on track.
3. Stretch your intellect
The mind is like a muscle—basically, use it or lose it. Stretching your intellect involves challenging yourself with new ideas, learning experiences, and intellectual pursuits. Dive into ways you can keep your brain active and engaged. This could look like:
- Reading books
- Taking a new course
- Learning a new language
- Educating yourself on politics and world affairs
I’ve been loving all the IG tech creators who showcase different tech careers and what it takes to break in.

4. Consistently invest in yourself
Your greatest asset is you, so why not invest? Whether it’s picking up new skills, indulging in self-care, or pursuing personal growth, consistent self-investment pays the best dividends.
And don’t be cheap with yourself, really get in there and spoil yourself; doing this also teaches others how to treat and care for you. Regular investments in yourself can lead to a richer, more rewarding life.

5. Be a mentor and a mentee
Great leaders are also great learners. Balancing the roles of mentor and mentee can provide invaluable insights and foster personal and professional growth. Explore how being both a guide and a student can enhance your journey and broaden your horizons.
I was lucky enough to have an amazing family that continuously mentored me. Aside from them, I met my mentor about 3 years ago unintentionally and it’s been such a rewarding relationship. I don’t have an official mentee yet but I’m looking forward to it.
6. Get involved in community events
Engaging with your local community can be as simple as showing up. But if you want to know how to be that girl, you should also be looking to make an impact. From charity events to local festivals, getting involved helps you connect with others and contribute to meaningful causes. My girl Nellie has done an exceptional job with serving the greater Orlando area.
I attended one of her “Feeding the Homeless” events a few months ago and it was truly a heartwarming experience. We served a community in the downtown Orlando area as well as donated clothes and shoes. Donate to her cause here > Serving Out Of LOVE, Inc.
7. Exude positivity and ignore drama
Life’s too short for negativity and drama. Cultivating a positive attitude can improve your overall well-being and attract more good vibes. Maintain positivity and steer clear of unnecessary drama to make your day-to-day interactions much more enjoyable. And stay away from friends who feed off drama. Venting is one thing, but if every convo is full of drama, don’t exhaust yourself with it.
8. Keep your body tight
A healthy body supports a vibrant life. Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and proper self-care keep your body in top shape. When you look good, you feel good and you move like nothing can stop you.
9. Keep your word
Your word is your reputation. Being dependable and following through on promises helps you build strong relationships and a solid reputation. Sticking to your commitments is crucial for earning trust and showing you’re someone people can rely on.
10. Be courageous and confident
Fear can hold you back, but courage and confidence push you forward. When you tackle challenges with bravery and a strong self-belief, you open yourself up to new opportunities and growth. Developing these traits helps you face life’s hurdles with strength and assurance.
